Student Data Privacy Workshop for K12 Educators

Is your school institutions ready for Student Data Privacy? If not, Join us on August 7th, at the Santa Clara County Office of Education!, the Berkman Center at Harvard University, and the Santa Clara County Office of Education are hosting a free student data privacy workshop for K12 educators in Northern California.

This one-day workshop will update you about student privacy in the digital age, help you understand and respond to parent concerns, and increase your confidence in edtech products you choose for your students and schools. We encourage you to bring several leaders from your district (superintendent, curriculum director, tech director, communications director) or school (principal, curriculum director, professional development leader, tech specialist).

Through a series of presentations, discussions and break-out groups, we’ll explore:

What you need to know about new student privacy laws;
Ways to respond to parent concerns;
Getting the information you need from edtech vendors;
How to measure and improve your data privacy practices; and
Privacy Training – for students, staff and parents.
 The workshop will also include an introduction to new iKeepSafe FERPA and COPPA badges, which will help you find edtech products that have been assessed by independent privacy experts -- a key step to complying with existing laws and increasing parent confidence in your edtech tools and strategies.

This is one of only two regional workshops scheduled in California (the next will be September 21 in Ventura County.) We hope you can make it! Register today!
